The Akron Zips play host to the Ball State Cardinals on Tuesday night in a MAC showdown from James A. Rhodes Arena. The Zips come into this one having grabbed a win the last time out, while their counterparts are coming off of a loss on the weekend. These two squared off last month, with Ball State winning by seven on the road, though the Zips will like their chance to find success being back at home for the rematch. With only one game separating these two in the standings, there's no doubt this will be an intriguing matchup.

After taking down the Zips at home last month, Ball State will have its eyes set on making it a season sweep and pulling into the third spot in the MAC standings. The Cardinals sit only a game back of Akron in the standings, though their road mark has proven to be a struggle. They come into this one only 6-6 on the road and have lost each of their last two road games. Adding in losses in two of their last three games and it appears this group might be losing momentum and confidence as the most important part of the season quickly approaches. With the MAC Tournament only a week away, grabbing a win to improve their standing, as well as help build up confidence, is crucial for this group.

One advantage is that Ball State doesn't have any injuries to worry about as they continue their road trip. With a clean bill of health, the Cardinals will be excited to show off their depth and that could prove to be the differenc e in this one.

Ball State has turned things around on the offensive side of things and their ability to score efficiently has been crucial to their success, though it hasn't consistently translated to success on the road. The three-point line expects to be instrumental on both sides of the ball in this one for the Cardinals too. They rank 42nd nationally in three-point percentage, while their struggles stopping the three from opponents have made life difficult for them. Having four double-figure scorers has certainly helped this team find success and they are led by one of the most explosive backcourts in the MAC. Jarron Coleman (14.5 ppg, 3.8 apg) leads the way, while Payton Sparks (12.8 ppg, 8.6 rpg) has been instrumental in the frontcourt, giving this team the balance it needs to find success.
