It is that time of the year and teams are all looking to improve their resumes as March Madness looms. On Wednesday night, Auburn overcame a late deficit to down Ole Miss 78-74 at home. Johni Broome had a huge night with 19 points, eight rebounds, and six blocks to lead the Tigers. Wendell Green led Auburn in scoring with 23 points, including going 6-of-6 down the stretch from the free-throw line to preserve the win. Auburn closed on an 11-1 run to erase a four-point deficit.

“We needed that one,” Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said. “Our best players stepped up and that was great to see. You win games at the end by getting stops and getting to the foul line. Wendell was terrific closing it out.”

Auburn can tie Kentucky in the SEC standings with a win on Saturday. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season. Auburn comes in with the fifth best scoring offense in the country but are just 12th in 3pt offense. Defensively, Auburn has the 13th most efficient defense in the country. They are eighth in the SEC in fewest turnovers per game and fourth in total rebounds.
