Tuesday Betting Recaps

Tuesday had some other action with the WNBA and Women’s World Cup, but the main focus was still on the full 15-game MLB schedule.

It was mostly a chalky day and, as I was waiting around late Tuesday night following the Blue Jays-Dodgers game to end so I could do my nightly recap on Twitter @ViewFromVegas and post this column, I was kinda kicking myself that I hadn’t bet on the Blue Jays as +130 road underdogs to bail me out on the day.

Toronto was leading 4-3 heading to the 9th inning and extended the lead to 7-3 and looked on the way to victory, but then the Dodgers scored four runs in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game 7-7 and send it to extra innings.

After the Blue Jays failed to score in top of the 10th (thanks to Mookie Betts throwing a runner out at the plate), James Outman hit a drive off the wall to score the winning run. But the game and the betting results still weren’t official as the umps reviewed the play to make sure it wasn’t a homer run (which would have been an incredibly lucky win for Dodgers -1.5 runline bettors and an even worse beat for Blue Jays run line bettors), but the ruling was the ball stayed in the field of play and the Dodgers won 8-7.

Thrilling stuff even if we weren’t involved in any bets.

But let’s get to our nightly betting recaps, and then update the season-long betting stats.

MLB: Dodgers (-141 home favorites) rallied to beat the Blue Jays 8-7 in 10 innings late Tuesday night as favorites went 11-4. The upsets were by the Reds (+137 in 4-3 win at Brewers), Red Sox (+125 in 7-1 win vs. Braves), Angels (+112 in 7-6, 10-inning win at Tigers) and Mariners (+110 in 9-7 win at Twins). Home teams went 10-5. Unders led 9-6.

More MLB: Favorites improved to 861-623 on the season with 25 games closing pick-'em. Home teams (34-21 the last 4 days despite going 4-6 on Monday) improved to 787-718 overall with 4 neutral-site games. Unders improved slim lead to 731-715-62 with 1 no-action.
