Friday Betting Recaps

Friday was a long day of sports betting as we had the second round of the U.S. Open teeing off early, along with a day baseball game at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and ended late with the Giants outlasting the Dodgers in 11 innings late on the West Coast.

We’ll leave the golf recaps and in-tournament picks to our VSiN colleagues https://www.vsin.com/us-open-2023-third-round-odds-tee-times-predictions/ .

For our purposes here, let’s get to our daily MLB recap and update the fave/dog, home/road and Over/Under records on the season, plus add the season-long USFL betting stats as they head into the regular-season-ending Week 10.

MLB: Faves went 10-5 Friday with the biggest upsets by the Tigers (+215 in 7-1 rout at Twins) and Reds (+144 in 2-1 win at Astros as they won their 6th straight), while the Giants cashed as +115 road underdogs in their 7-5 win at the Dodgers in 11 innings. Road teams went 8-7. Unders led 8-6-1 with the push in DET-MIN (8). On the season, faves lead 602-428 with 16 PK games closing pick-’em. Home teams lead 550-494 with 2 neutral-site games. Unders’ improved slim lead to 506-500-39 with 1 no-action.

USFL (ICYMI): After favorites led 3-1 SU and ATS last weekend in Week 9, underdogs still lead 20-16 SU overall and even better at 25-11 ATS (69.4%, though down from 75% most of the season). Over/Unders split 2-2 for the week, but Unders still lead 19-16-1 (54.3%).
