Atlanta Braves vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-31-2023

The Oakland Athletics (11-45) will wrap up a three-game series at home against the Atlanta Braves (32-22) on Wednesday. The A's are off to a historically terrible start but did manage to win the series-opening game 7-2 on Monday. Tuesday's game was not complete at the time that this article was completed.

The Atlanta Braves went into Tuesday with a four-game lead in the East Division and only half a game behind the Dodgers for the best record in the entire National League. The Braves have been road warriors winning 17 of their first 25 games away from home. The Atlanta offense is fourth in road scoring averaging 5.6 runs per game. Leading the team is MVP candidate Ronald Acuna Jr (3.0 WAR, .327 AVG, 11 HR, 30 RBI, 22 SB). Matt Olson leads the team with 17 home runs and 42 RBI, followed by four other Braves with four home runs.

On Monday, the Braves were upset victims to the A's behind Michael Soroka, who allowed four runs in six innings making his first start since 2020. Starting on Wednesday will be left-handed throwing rookie Jared Shuster (1-2, 5.33 ERA). Shuster is 0-2 with a 6.52 ERA in a small sample size of two road starts.
