Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-6-2022

The Atlanta Braves (63-43, 54-52 RL, 53-49-4 O/U) take on the New York Mets (67-38, 57-48 RL, 53-45-7 O/U) in game one of Saturday’s big doubleheader from Citi Field. The Braves will likely have Jake Odorizzi on the hill. The Mets will reply with David Peterson. The Mets lead the season series 5-4

Jake Odorizzi will make his Braves debut in game one or two. Odorizzi tossed seven shutout innings against the Mariners in his last start as a member of the Astros last week. The veteran has been inconsistent recently but is definitely having a solid year, recording a 3.75 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP accompanied by a 4-3 record in 60 innings pitched. Odorizzi has limited the Mets to four runs in 11.1 career innings. If Odorizzi doesn't start game one, it will be Max Fried.

Atlanta has definitely some work to do if they want to catch the Mets and win another division title. They trail New York by 3.5 games and have plenty of time remaining. The squad is playing reasonably well but has dropped four out of their last six road games.

Many of the Braves hitters are having issues solving the Mets including Dansby Swanson. T he veteran shortstop is only 3 for 27 with one RBI against the foes this season. He is enjoying a stellar year, bashing 15 taters with 55 RBIs and an .819 OPS. Swanson has one RBI in his last ten games.

The Braves are scoring an average of 4.75 runs per game, ranking them fourth overall. The pitching staff has logged a 3.59 team ERA, placing them sixth in the big leagues.
