Army at Coastal Carolina 9/3/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Army Black Knights and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers face off on Saturday in a Week 1 college football showdown at Brooks Stadium.

Army finished last season with a 9-4 record and that included a win over Missouri in the Armed Forces Bowl to finish the season. Head coach Jeff Monken is back in charge this season and there is chatter that this could be his best team yet. Army runs the triple option attack and the goal in this game to run the ball at Coastal Carolina as many different ways as possible. Tyhier Tyler is expected to start under center, and he led the team in rushing back in 2020. The defense is often overlooked because the talk is always about the offense, but the defense is good. Andre Carter is a pass rusher that will probably play in the NFL, that’s how good he is.

On the other side of this matchup is Coastal Carolina who finished last season with an 11-2 record overall and they hope they can win another Sun Belt title this season. Many believed Grayson McCall might go to the NFL but he has returned for another season, and they need him to have a big game here. McCall is a duel threat quarterback that is going to try to spread the ball all over the field to find success. The offense for Coastal Carolina gets the attention but the defense was also good last year. In this game, if Coastal Carolina can slow down the run, they can find success here.
