The Arkansas Razorbacks fell to 2-3 on Saturday following a 34-22 loss to Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas last Saturday. The Razorbacks fell behind 17-6 at halftime and were only able to trade scores in the second half on their way to their third straight defeat, second straight in the SEC.
“Our team is a little beat up. We've got a few injuries. I appreciate the effort, and the fight that we had throughout the entire game. I thought when Snaxx (Lorando Johnson) picked the pass, that
that would springboard us, but we just couldn't get anything done in the red area. And really in the second half, offensively, couldn't get a first down. So give A&M the credit. We've got a lot of work to do. But I like our kids. I think they'll come back and fight. But wasn't a good outing today.” Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said following the game.
A rkansas finished with just 10 first downs in total and just 174 yards of total offense in the loss. Quarterback KJ Jefferson finished the game 9-of-17-passing for 132 yards and a touchdown. He also threw an interception in the game. Jefferson also led the Razorbacks in rushing with 18 carries for just 44 yards rushing. He now has 78 career touchdowns combined both throwing and rushing the football, which is a school record. Arkansas finished the afternoon with just 42 yards rushing total and averaged a measly 3.1 yards per play.
Defensively, the Razorbacks allowed 414 yards of total offense including over 200 yards on the ground. Arkansas had four tackles for loss in the game and didn't record a sack in the game. They forced two turnovers in the game with a fumble recovery and an interception.
The Razorbacks come into Saturday's matchup with the 91st ranked offense in the country. They are 81st in the country o n the ground and just 96th through the air. Arkansas is 23rd in the nation in red zone efficiency on the offensive end. On the defensive end, the Razorbacks are ranked 40th in total defense. They are 44th against the run and 53rd against the pass. Arkansas' defense is ranked 74th in the country in red zone efficiency.
