The Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions and Mississippi State Bulldogs face off on Sunday in a college basketball showdown at Humphrey Coliseum.
Mississippi State comes into this game with a 2-0 record and they have looked good in each of the games. In the first game the Bulldogs knocked off Texas A&M-CC 63-44 and in the last game they beat Akron 73-54. They made it clear coming into the season that this was going to be a defense first team, and through the first two games, that had worked out. In the last game Tolu Smith had quite the game finishing with 26 points and eight rebounds. Forward D.J. Jeffries also finished with 15 points. In this game if the defense is good, the Bulldogs should have another easy victory.
On the other side of this matchup is Arkansas Pine Bluff who sit with a 1-2 record. On Friday against the Oklahoma Sooners, they actually were pretty competitive but ended up losing 66-58. In the first game against TCU the Golden Lions were also competitive and ended up losing by only one point. The win for Pine Bluff came against Championship Christian, and that was by a final score of 87-56. Guard Shaun Doss had a solid game against the Sooners finishing with 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists. There were three different players that scored at least 10 points.
