The Arizona State Sun Devils (3-8, 4-7 ATS, 4-7 O/U) collide with the Arizona Wildcats (4-7, 4-7 ATS, 6-5 O/U) in the Duel in the Desert rivalry game on Friday afternoon. The Sun Devils were dealt a home loss by Oregon State last week. The Wildcats lost a home decision against Washington State in their previous action. The Sun Devils posted a 38-15 home win against the Wildcats last season.

The Arizona State Sun Devils are concluding a disastrous season. They had big expectations heading into the year but a poor start led to the dismissal of the head coach Herm Edwards after losing to Eastern Michigan of the MAC in week three. Arizona State has lost three in a row after a 31-7 defeat against Oregon State last week in a bout that had ASU labeled as seven-point dogs. The conference wins occurred against Colorado and Washington. The Sun Devils have not covered in four consecutive games.

Emory Jones and Trenton Bourguet have seen action at QB. Last week it was Bourguet under center. The junior QB has been solid, eclipsing 300 passing yards in two of his five games played, and has recorded 1114 passing yards and an 8:4 TD to INT ratio. Jones was the #1 entering the season and the junior QB has 1533 passing yards and a 7:4 TD to INT ratio.

Xazavian Valladay has been a bright spot this season. The senior RB has surpassed 100 rushing yards in three out of his last four clashes and now has accrued 1095 rushing yards on a stellar average of 5.7 yards per carry. The passing game relies on Elijah Badger. The sophomore WR has made 17 catches in his last three games and has registered 774 receiving yards. The Arizona State offense has been hit or miss all season and has only scored 25 points in their last two games.

The Sun Devils defense has been the culprit in many of the losses. They have allowed at least 30 points in all but two conference games. The unit hasn’t been able to contain the pass or run. They are pegged 84th in pass defense and 102nd in rush defense. Arizona State is averaging 25.3 points, landing them 85th. They are conceding an average of 30.8 points, positioning them 108th
