Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-21-2022

Arizona Diamondbacks (68-79) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (102-44)

The Arizona Diamondbacks square off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fourth of a five-game series at Dodger Stadium in LA this Wednesday night, and the first pitch is set at 10:10 PM ET. The Dodgers beat the D-backs 5-2 in Monday’s opener, while Tuesday’s doubleheader from Los Angeles has been excluded from the analysis.

The Dodgers are heavy -290 favorites for Wednesday’s battle, but you can take them at -150 to beat the runline. The Diamondbacks sit at +258 moneyline odds, while the totals are listed at 8.5 runs.

The Arizona Diamondbacks extended their losing streak to four games following Monday’s defeat at Dodger Stadium. Arizona suffered the tenth loss in 13 games, and the D-backs have dropped four series in a row including a three-game home set against the LA Dodgers. They were sitting at the fourth spot in the NL West, trailing the bottom wild card in the National League by 12.5 games.

The Diamondbacks have gone 7-11 in their first 18 outings in September. They’ve amassed a 4.33 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and .231 opposing batting average while hitting an underwhelming .221/.281/.378 with 22 home runs and 25 extra-base hits through 584 at-bats.

Madison Bumgarner will take the hill Wednesday and face the Dodgers for the third time this season. He’s been charged for a loss in each of his previous two dates with the Blue Crew, yielding eight earned runs on 13 hits and four walks across 11 innings of work.

Bumgarner is 6-15 with a pedestrian 5.01 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 29 starts (152.2 innings pitched) in 2022. He’s been awful since late July, going 0-6 with a 7.82 ERA and 5.72 FIP in his last nine starts (48.1 IP).
