Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-20-2022

It’s the continuation of an early week series between NL West rivals on the diamond in the City of Angels. The Arizona Diamondbacks are on the road as they play the second game of a doubleheader and the third game of a five-game set with the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night. Arizona lost three of four at home over the weekend by the Padres as they were drubbed 6-1 Sunday afternoon. Los Angeles swept the Giants on the road as they prevailed 4-3 in 10 innings Sunday night in the finale of that three-game set. This article was published prior to the conclusion of Monday night’s series opener, not to mention the first game of the doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.

Arizona dropped their final three games of their four-game set with the Padres as they were shut down offensively at home. The Diamondbacks entered Monday fourth in the NL West, 33.5 games behind the Dodgers for the top spot in the division. They were 12 games behind the Phillies for the final wild card spot in the National League playoff picture. On Sunday, Arizona finished with just four hits with Christian Walker and Ketel Marte (RBI) each doubling in the loss. Ryne Nelson (1-1) took the loss as he allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Drey Jameson is on the mound for his second start of the season in this contest for the Diamondbacks. He is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, a 0.429 WHIP, one walk and five strikeouts on the year. Jameson earned the win in his last start, which was his major league debut, at home against the Padres Thursday night. He threw seven innings, allowing no runs on two hits with one walk and five strikeouts in a 4-0 Diamondbacks victory. In his second career major league start, Jameson pitches against the Dodgers for the first time. As a result, this marks his first career outing at Dodger Stadium. Prior to being recalled, Jameson made 26 appearances, 25 starts, split between Double-A Amarillo of the Texas League and Triple-A Reno of the Pacific Coast League. On the year, he has a 7-13 record with a 6.31 ERA, a 1.492 WHIP, 46 walks and 132 strikeouts over 132.2 innings of work.
