The Dodgers posted a 14-5 record against the Diamondbacks last season and each team has earned one victory in the first two games of this series.
The Diamondbacks had a promising 2021 season propelled by the young players. They traded catcher Daulton Varsho but acquired one of the best prospects in catcher Gabriel Moreno. The young catcher had made the roster out of spring and will have a chance to prove he is ready. They also received an established hitter in Lourdes Gurriel Jr. in the Varsho trade with the Blue Jays.
Zach Davies will make his season debut in the series finale. Davies had a rebound season after strugglingly mightily in 2021. The veteran logged a 5.78 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP in 2021 and regained his confidence by posting a 4.09 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP accompanied by a 2-5 record in 27 starts as a member of the Diamondbacks. The right-hander struggled against LA, giving up 14 runs with an 0-2 record in 21 innings pitched, and stands at 4-5 with a solid 3.16 ERA in 77 career innings against the rivals.

Christan Walker is the D-Backs’ cleanup hitter in the middle of the lineup. The veteran slugger delivered 32 homers accompanied by 94 RBIs and an .804 OPS last year. He clubbed six homers along with 19 RBIs against the Dodgers last season and is 2 for 8 with one RBI in this series entering Saturday night.
