Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-3-2022

The interleague tilt between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Guardians comes to a close in what is projected to be a scorcher at Progressive Field on Wednesday afternoon. After coming up short in the opener, the Diamondbacks came roaring back to life in Tuesday’s rematch with a 6-3 victory.

They’d love nothing more than handing the Guardians their 51st loss and winning the series. We’ll see if they can keep things moving in a positive direction with MLB first-timer Tommy Henry pegged as the starting pitcher opposite of Cleveland’s Shane Bieber.

The Guardians will be rolling out the red carpet at Progressive Field for Diamondbacks starting pitcher Tommy Henry, who will be making his official MLB debut on Wednesday. No, there isn’t a TNT lineup for the Guardians, but they are averaging the seventh-most hits per game and 4.41 runs. This is a tough outing in an even tougher environment for the youngster.

It’ll be interesting to see how deep he goes on the mound and if the bullpen can save him if things start going off the rails. The Diamondbacks are ranked in the bottom-half of the league offensively when playing on the road this season. So not only will Henry not have the arms to back him up on the mound, he might not have the bats, either, to do the same on the scoreboard.

He was throwing a 3.83 ERA with a 4-4 record as a member of the Triple-A affiliate team of the Diamondbacks, the Reno Aces. No one is expecting him to bl ow the doors off the stadium in his first start, but there’s hope he can be tough enough in the early-going to give the Diamondbacks their best shot at winning this game.
