Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-2-2022

The Arizona Diamondbacks (45-56, 58-43 RL, 43-53-5 O/U) battle the Cleveland Guardians (52-49, 54-47 RL, 50-46-5 O/U) in the second of a three-game series on Tuesday evening. The Diamondbacks send out Zac Gallen who is seeking his sixth win. The Guardians will reply with Triston McKenzie looking to rebound from a loss.

The D-Backs will have Zac Gallen take the mound for the 20th time of the season. Gallen was stellar last time out, limiting the Giants to only two runs (one earned) in five innings, leading to a no-decision in a game the D-Backs own. The veteran right-hander is having an outstanding season and is one of the more underrated pitchers in the game. He has recorded a 3.24 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP accompanied by a 5-2 record in 105.2 innings pitched. This marks his first career meeting against the Guardians.

Arizona was able to earn a home sweep against the Giants last week but struggled in a road series defeat to the Braves this past weekend. The D-Backs rarely collect series wins on the road and have dipped to 11 games below .500 on the road this season.

Christian Walker continues to shine at the plate, collecting si x RBIs in his last five games. The veteran first baseman is having another productive season, clubbing 23 bombs with 52 RBIs and a .743 OPS. Walker posted 14 RBIs in July.

The Diamondbacks are averaging 4.22 runs per game, ranking them 20th overall. The pitching staff has filed a 4.19 team ERA, placing them 22nd in the big leagues.
