It’s a Central Division matchup on the ice between a pair of teams looking to put one in the win column as they collide in the Gateway City. The Arizona Coyotes are on the road as they travel to face the St. Louis Blues Thursday night. Arizona comes in off a 1-0 shutout loss on the road at the hands of the Islanders Tuesday night. St. Louis prevailed 2-1 in a shootout at home over Seattle in their most recent game Saturday night. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, Arizona owns a 5-2-3 advantage and went 2-0-1 last season, including a 6-2 triumph at home in the most recent matchup on March 7.

Arizona opened their season with a surprising 4-3 win over the Devils but they have been stifled offensively since that point. The Coyotes have scored just one goal in their last two games combined, dropping to 1-2-0 on the season and leaving them tied for sixth in the Central Division, four points behind Colorado for the top spot. Arizona is 29th in the league in goals per game as they average 1.33 goals a night this season. The Coyotes are tied for 7th in goals against as they allow an average of two goals per game on the year. Arizona is 14th in the league in power play success as they convert 20% of their chances with the man advantage this season. The Coyotes are 29th in the league in penalty killing as they successfully navigate 63.6% of their shorthanded situations.

Against the Islanders, Arizona was strong in their own end of the ice but couldn&#x2 019;t do anything offensively, sending them to a tough defeat. The Coyotes were outshot 11-3 in the opening period of play but neither side lit the lamp, leaving the game scoreless after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, Arizona was outshot by a 15-3 margin and outscored 1-0 to trail by that margin after two periods of action. The final stanza saw the shots even at eight with both sides going scoreless again, leaving them on the wrong end of a tough 1-0 loss. Karel Vejmelka made 33 saves for the Coyotes, who were outshot 34-14, in the loss. He is slated to be back between the pipes in this contest for the Coyotes.
