The Coyotes are off to a promising start with their offense leading the way, scoring four goals in their season-opening victory. Nick Schmaltz scored a goal and added an assist but the entire offense stepped up. Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley combined for four assists while defensemen Mathew Dumba and Sean Durzi have added two goals from the blue line to help open up the offense.
The offense was great but the defense hopes to improve after allowing three goals in their recent game. Mathew Dumba and Sean Durzi led the top pairing but the rest of the unit struggled, allowing the opposition to generate shots on the net with ease. The bright spot was the play of goaltender Karel Vejmelka who saved 33 of the 36 shots he faced.
