Arizona Coyotes (3-2-0) vs. Los Angeles Kings (2-2-1)

The 2023-24 NHL season continues Tuesday, October 24, with the Arizona Coyotes facing off against the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference showdown at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, and the puck drop is set for 10:30 PM ET.

Arizona and LA open their three-game regular-season series, and the Kings have won six of their last eight contests against the Coyotes. The Kings are firm -190 moneyline favorites for this game, while the total sits at 6.5 goals.

The Arizona Coyotes are off to a surprisingly solid start to the season. They’ve won three of their first five games including the previous two over the St. Louis Blues 6-2 and the Anaheim Ducks 2-1. Last Saturday, the Yotes were outshot by the Ducks 33-27, but Karel Vejmelka had a big game between the pipes.

Arizona is scoring 2.40 goals per game (tied-24th in the league) while surrendering only 1.80 goals in return (3rd). The Coyotes have converted seven of their 24 power-play opportunities thus far which is outstanding, but they’ve also killed just 11 of the opposing 16 power-play opportunities.

The Yotes haven’t announced who’ll guard the cage Tuesday in LA. Karel Vejmelka is 2-1-0 with a 1.65 GAA and a .951 save percentage on the season, while Connor Ingram is 1-1-0 with a 2.02 GAA and a .926 save percentage. I’m expecting to see Vejmelka, who’s 2-2-0 with a 3.65 GAA and a .893 SV% in five career appearances against the Kings.
