The Arizona Coyotes face the Chicago Blackhawks with both teams looking to improve from rough seasons. The Coyotes have a 13-19-5 record which is the second-worst in the Central Division while the Blackhawks have an 8-25-4 record and with five losses in a row are in last place in the division. Both teams are looking to improve in the division and the Western Conference and the upcoming game looks to be a good one as a result.

The Coyotes are having an awful season with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.89 goals per game. Lawson Crouse and Clayton Keller have scored 28 goals and 30 assists while defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere has added nine goals and 17 assists from the point but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only four skaters have scored eight goals or more while only eight skaters have added nine assists or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has struggled but the defense has been the Coyotes' undoing, allowing 3.64 goals per game. Jakob Chychrun and Shayne Gostisbehere have combined for 2.7 defensive point shares and 73 blocked shots but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Connor Ingram has struggled with a .878 save percentage and a 4.24 goals-against average o n 319 shots.
