Arizona was at home against Philadelphia Thursday night in their previous contest, losing by a 4-1 score. Boston was at home against Buffalo Thursday night in their previous game and they were dealt a 3-1 defeat. In the last 10 meetings, the Bruins own a commanding 9-1 advantage but it was the Coyotes taking a 4-3 home win in the most recent matchup between the teams on December 9, 2022.

Arizona was in action Thursday night against Philadelphia and saw their five-game win streak snapped with a 4-1 loss. The Coyotes entered Friday 13-10-2 on the season and stood tied for fourth in the Central Division, six points behind Colorado for the top spot in the division. They were four points behind Winnipeg for the final guaranteed playoff spot. Arizona is tied for 12th in the league in goals per game as they average 3.24 goals a night this season. The Coyotes are 10th in goals against as they allow an average of 2.88 goals per game on the year. Arizona is 7th in the league in power play success as they convert 25.9% of their chances with the man advantage this season. The Coyotes are 13th in the league in penalty killing as they successfully navigate 81.2% of their shorthanded situations.

Against Philadelphia, Arizona couldn’t get on track offensively and that led to the end of their five-game run. The opening period of play saw the Coyotes outshot by an 8-7 margin and they trailed 2-1 on the scoreboard after 20 minutes of play. After giving up the first two goals of the game to trail 2-0, Lawson Crouse got the Coyotes on the board with his 11th goal of the season at 17:33 off assists from Matias Maccelli and Jason Zucker. The second period saw Arizona outshot 8-7 and outscored 1-0 to trail 3-1 at the second intermission. In the third period, the Coyotes held a 12-10 advantage in shots on goal but gave up the only goal of the stanza to end up on the wrong end of the scoreboard. Connor Ingram made 22 saves for the Coyotes in a game where the shots were even at 26, in the loss. Karel Vejmelka is expected to get the start in goal for Arizona here.
