Arizona Cardinals vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-18-2022

Arizona Cardinals (0-1) vs. Las Vegas Raiders (0-1)

The Arizona Cardinals head to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, to take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season. These two franchises meet for the first time since 2018, and the Raiders have gone 3-2 straight up and 4-1 ATS in their last five encounters with the Cardinals.

Both Arizona and Las Vegas shoot for their first win in 2022. The Cardinals are listed as 4.5-point road underdogs, while the Raiders are -200 moneyline favorites with a total of 51.5 points.

The Arizona Cardinals got beaten hard at the start of the 2022 season. They suffered a 44-21 home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, failing to cover a 6-point spread. Arizona racked up just 282 total yards and yielded 488 in a return, as the Cardinals trailed by a whopping 30 points at the end of the third quarter. They couldn’t cope with the Chiefs’ dynamic offense and Patrick Mahomes, who tossed for 360 yards and five touchdowns.

“They beat us in every way,” Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury said. “There is no denying it, no hiding from it. We didn't execute in any phase and they played at a high level.”

If we expected the Cardinals’ defense to struggle in a tough matchup with the Chiefs, then Arizona’s offense was a huge disappointment in the opening week. The Cardinals have accounted for just seven points through the first three quarters. Kyler Murray completed 22 of his 34 passing attempts for 193 yards and a couple of touchdowns and posted five carries for 29 yards, while Greg Dortch had seven catches for 63 yards.

DeAndre Hopkins is suspended for five more games, so the Cardinals desperately need more from the rest of their receiving corps. Arizona had ten players on Thursday’s injury report, including tight end Zach Ertz (calf) and defensive end JJ Watt (calf).
