I placed a bet on Manning to win the Heisman at +6000 odds via DraftKings immediately after his first touchdown pass on Saturday. I have no interest in these shortened odds.
These odds are set to protect the sportsbooks against liability. While the popularity of his name would play in his favor with the Heisman being decided by a media vote, we need to know he has control of the starting job in Texas.
We don't have a nything to lose by holding off and waiting for more information. Texas will play UL Monroe and Mississippi State – both at home – before the aforementioned matchups against Oklahoma and Georgia.
Those will be the true litmus tests for Texas and whoever its starting QB may be.
