Appalachian State vs. Coastal Carolina Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-3-2022

Appalachian State will try to extend its two-game winning streak when it faces Coastal Carolina on Thursday night. The Mountaineers have won back-to-back games since suffering a loss to Texas State in early October. Coastal Carolina bounced back from its first loss of the year with a 24-13 win over Marshall last week.

Appalachian State opened the season with one of the wildest games of the year, losing to North Carolina in a 63-61 final at home. The Mountaineers were able to overcome that disappointment with a stunning win at then-No. 6 Texas A&M the following week before adding a win over Troy. They have lost a pair of games since then, though, losing to James Madison as 6-point favorites and then suffering a shocking loss to Texas State as 19.5-point favorites. Appalachian State bounced back with a win over Robert Morris last week, though it failed to cover the 50-point spread in the 42-3 final.

The Mountaineers are only one loss behind Coastal Carolina in the division standings, so they can vault themselves into the top spot with a win on Thursday. They are led by veteran quarterback Chase Brice, who threw for 235-plus yards in four consecutive games before throwing for 62 yards against Georgia State and 185 yards against Robert Morris. Running back Camerun Peoples was the star in the win against Georgia State, racking up 168 yards. Peoples is averaging 6.4 yards per carry and has scored five touchdowns. Brice has completed 64.9% of his passes for 1,921 yards, 22 touchdowns and just four interceptions. His top target has been wide receiver Christan Horn, who has 21 receptions for 414 yards and four scores.
