Anaheim Ducks vs. Washington Capitals Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-23-2023

The Anaheim Ducks face the Washington Capitals with both teams struggling this season. The Ducks have a 17-34-7 record and with six losses in a row, have fallen into last place in the Pacific Division. The Capitals have a 28-25-6 record and with five losses in a row have fallen out of playoff position and into sixth place in the Metropolitan Division. Both teams look to improve in their divisions and rebound on the season and the upcoming game looks to be a good one.

The Ducks are having an awful season with their offense scoring only 2.45 goals per game with only four goals in the last two games. Trevor Zegras, Adam Henrique, and Mason Mctavish have scored 51 goals and 62 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only five active skaters have 10 goals or more and opponents can eliminate the hapless offense as a result.

The offense has been awful but the defense has let the Ducks down, allowing 4.19 goals per game including 36 goals in the last six games. Cam Fowler and Dmitry Kulikov have combined for 3.7 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender John Gibson has struggled with a .898 save percentage and a 4.07 goals-against average on 1450 shots with -11.1 goals saved above average.
