The Anaheim Ducks are on the road as they make the trip to face the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday night. Anaheim was in action against Ottawa Monday night on the road so they are playing the second game of a back-to-back situation here. The Ducks were drubbed 6-1 by the Sharks Friday night in their previous contest. Toronto knocked off Calgary 5-4 in overtime at home Saturday night in their most recent game. In the last 10 meetings, the Maple Leafs own a 7-2-1 advantage though the Ducks earned a 4-3 overtime victory at home in the first meeting this season on October 30.

Anaheim was in action against the Senators Monday night in the front game of a back-to-back situation that concludes here. The Ducks entered Monday last in the Pacific Division standings with a 7-18-3 record, leaving them 24 points behind Vegas for the top spot and 18 back of the Kings for the final guaranteed spot in the Pacific Division. Anaheim is 30th in the league in goals per game as they average 2.43 goals per contest. The Ducks are 32nd in the league in goals against as they allow an average of 4.21 goals a night. Anaheim is 31st in power play success as they cash in on 15% of their chances with the man advantage on the year. The Ducks are 31st in the league in the penalty killing department as they successfully navigate 66.7% of their shorthanded situations on the year.

Against San Jose Friday night, the Ducks couldn’t build off their win o ver Carolina in overtime as they were pasted by San Jose. Anaheim saw the shots even at seven in the opening period of play but they trailed 1-0 on the scoreboard after 20 minutes of action. In the second period, the Ducks were outshot by a 12-7 margin and outscored 3-1 to trail by a 4-1 margin after two periods of action. After giving up three goals in a 1:42 span of the period to trail 4-0, Trevor Zegras got Anaheim on the board with his 10th goal of the year at 9:37 with assists going to Cam Fowler and Dmitry Kulikov to make it a three-goal margin. In the third period, the Ducks held a 10-9 edge in shots but they were outscored 2-0 to wind up on the wrong side of a blowout. John Gibson stopped 15 of 19 shots before being pulled after two periods of play. Anthony Stolarz kicked out seven of eight shots he faced in relief. The Ducks haven’t named a starting goaltender for this contest.
