Anaheim Ducks (2-6-1) vs. San Jose Sharks (3-8-0)

The 2022-23 NHL betting action goes on with a loaded 12-game card, so we are taking a closer look at the Pacific Division showdown from SAP Center at San Jose to get you the best Ducks vs. Sharks betting pick and odds.

Anaheim meets San Jose for the first time this season. The Ducks open as slight +111 road underdogs, while the Sharks are -123 moneyline favorites with a total of 6.0 goals.

The Anaheim Ducks put an end to a terrible seven-game losing streak last Sunday, outlasting the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime as +165 home underdogs. The Ducks erased a two-goal deficit in the third period and escaped with a huge victory thanks to three unanswered goals. Trevor Zegras found the back of the net twice including the game-winner in overtime, while John Gibson posted 33 saves.

“It was really important that we understood the guy next to you isn’t going to pull us out of this; the coach isn’t going to pull us out of this,” Ducks coach Dallas Eakins said, revealing that the team met Saturday to address its struggles. “Each person in that room had to have a level of resolve that we’re going to go out there and do o ur jobs to the best of our ability.”

John Gibson is now 2-5-1 with a 4.23 GAA and .888 save percentage in 2022-23, and the 29-year-old netminder should get another starting call Tuesday in San Jose. The Ducks own the third-highest scoring defense (4.22 goals per game) and the second-lowest penalty-killing percentage in the NHL (63.6%).

On the other side of the puck, Anaheim scores just 2.22 goals per contest (31st in the league) on an 8.2 shooting percentage (tied-30th). The Ducks have only converted two of their 26 power-play opportunities this season.
