Against Washington, Anaheim played solid defensive zone hockey but they had no offense to speak of, which led to a defeat. The Ducks were outshot 9-3 in the opening period of play and they trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes of play. Anaheim was outshot 11-9 in the second period of action with neither team denting the twine, keeping the score 1-0 in favor of the Capitals at the second intermission. The third period saw Anaheim with a 12-8 shot advantage but they gave up the lone goal of the stanza to leave them on the wrong end of the scoreboard. John Gibson made 26 saves for Anaheim, who was outshot 28-24, in the loss. He’s likely between the pipes for the Ducks in this contest again.
