Anaheim Ducks (14-29-5) vs. Colorado Avalanche (26-17-3)

The Anaheim Ducks wrap up their six-game road trip Thursday, January 26, when they face off against the reigning NHL champions, the Colorado Avalanche, in the Western Conference showdown at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

Anaheim and Colorado lock horns for the first time this season, and the puck drop is set for 9:00 PM ET. The Avalanche open as heavy -380 moneyline favorites, while the Ducks are +330 underdogs with a total of 6.5 goals.

The Anaheim Ducks have surprisingly won two of their last three contests, sandwiching a 6-3 defeat against the Buffalo Sabres with a couple of wins over the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3 and Arizona Coyotes 5-2. Last Tuesday, the Ducks dominated the Yotes as +105 road dogs, scoring four straight goals before Arizona cut the deficit midway through the third period.

Anaheim outshot Arizona 43-39 and went 1-for-3 with the man advantage. Defenseman Cam Fowler notched a pair of goals, while winger Troy Terry accounted for one goal and two assists. Terry now has 41 points (13 goals and 28 assists) in 2022-23.

“That’s Troy,” Ducks coach Dallas Eakins said. “He has that ability to go thro ugh people. He’s unbelievable at putting pucks underneath guys sticks and controlling it that way. He could easily have had a couple more.”

Anaheim remains bottom of the Pacific Division with just 33 points out of 48 games. The Ducks own the worst scoring defense in the NHL, yielding 4.15 goals per contest, while their penalty-killing percentage of 72.0 is the third-worst in the league. Anaheim scores 2.40 goals per contest (31st in the NHL) and is 23-for-139 with the man advantage (28th).
