The Alabama Crimson Tide are back where they seemingly belong, in the College Football Playoffs. After losing to Texas early in the season, it appeared that this might not be the year for the Tide. Since then, the Tide has reeled off 11-straight wins including a victory over then #1 Georgia in the SEC Championship game. That win ended the Bulldogs' record 29-game winning streak. Now, for a record eighth-time, the Crimson Tide find themselves in the College Football Playoffs and will seek to secure head coach Nick Saban's 7th national title.

“It’s a great opportunity for our players. It’s a great challenge for them. But you’re not really owed anything when you play in these games. It’s like a one-game season when you’re playing in the playoffs, so we’ve got to put everything into it we can. And everybody’s working hard to try to do that.” Saban said leadin g up to this game.

The Crimson Tide have had some hiccups along the way at quarterback this season but sophomore Jalen Milroe has taken a firm hold of the position. Benched for one game after the Texas' loss, Milroe has gone on to throw for 2,718 yards with 23 touchdowns and just six interceptions. Milroe also rushed for 468 yards with 12 touchdowns. Alabama will have to wait on the availability of leading rusher Jase McClellan, who is questionable with a foot injury. He led the team with 803 rushing yards. If he can't go, Roydell Williams is a capable backup after rushing for 561 yards this season with an average of 5.1 yards per carry. Milroe's two favorite targets are wideouts Isaiah Bond and Jermaine Burton. Bond led the team with 44 catches while Burton led the team with eight touchdown grabs and an average of 22.2 yards per catch. Overall, Alabama's offense was 26th in the nation in scoring this season. They were 83rd o n the ground and 63rd through the air. The Crimson Tide were 59th in giveaways this season as well.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Crimson Tide are big and fast up front. Caleb Downs leads the team with 99 tackles including 3.5 tackles for loss. He also had two interceptions on the season. The Bama defensive line is led by Justin Eboigbe and Dallas Turner. Turner led the team with nine sacks while Eboigbe was right behind him with seven sacks. The Crimson Tide's secondary was opportunistic this season with 12 interceptions, led by Terrion Arnold's team-leading five interceptions. Overall, the Tide ranked 17th in the country in points allowed this season. They were 30th against the run and 26th against the pass. They were also an impressive 11th in takeaways this year.
