Alabama vs. LSU Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-5-2022

Another epic SEC showdown will take place on Saturday night as the #7 Alabama Crimson Tide heads to legendary Tiger Stadium to take on the #15 LSU Tigers. Alabama comes in at 7-1 and still has a clear path to make the college football playoffs for the 8th time in the nine playoffs that started in 2015. For LSU, this could be the signature win of head coach Brian Kelly's first season at LSU. The opening kick is scheduled for 7:00pm EST.

The 7-1 Crimson Tide head into one of the most difficult venues to play in college football with their eyes still firmly on the prize. Despite a loss to the Tennessee Volunteers a few weeks ago, the Crimson Tide are still in line to earn one of the four playoff spots if they win out and capture the SEC title. Last week, following their loss to the Volunteers, Alabama bounced back with a convincing 30-6 win over Mississippi State at home. After a bye week, Alabama is now rested and ready for the stretch run.

“I was really pleased with the way our guys competed in the game tonight. I challenged them in terms of how they were going to respond. Respond with your ability, your positive energy and attitude, how you block, how you tackle, the enthusiasm that you play with. I was pleased with the way the guys competed and had fun. There wasn't a lot of anxiety. There wasn't always perfect execution – but to me, that&# 39;s a start. It is kind of time to answer the bell and now the challenge is to build on that. We've got a bye week coming up, we've got a lot of guys that we need to try to get healthy and I think we'll get some guys back.” 'Bama head coach Nick Saban said following the team's October 22nd win.

Alabama finished the game with a surprisingly uneven offensive performance. Reigning Heisman trophy-winner Bryce Young and the passing game totaled 261 yards through the air but the Crimson Tide earned just 29 yards on the ground. They were 8-of-17 on third downs in the game and lost the time of possession battle, 30:29-29:31.

The Crimson Tide defense held Miss. State to 293 total yards with just 62 yards on the ground. Alabama had four sacks and six tackles for loss in the game and got to the quarterback for 7 quarterback hits in the game. Alabama didn't record any turnovers in the win.

Alabama comes into this matchup with the 3rd ranked scoring offense in college football and the 6th ranked scoring defense. The balanced Crimson Tide are 17th in rushing offense and 34th in passing offense this season. They are deadly in the red zone on both sides of the ball, ranking 30th in red zone offense and 20th in red zone defense. LSU will earn whatever they get offensively against a Crimson Tide defense that is 17th against the run and 26th against the pass. If 'Bama has a weakness, it is the team's struggles both in turnovers and penalties. They are 91st in turnover differential this season and 126th in penalties per game.

Key Injuries: DL Justin Eboigbe is gone for the season with a neck injury.
