Alabama Dominates List of NFL Talent on Week 1 Rosters

Alabama has dominated the college football scene over the last 13 years. Within that span, head coach Nick Saban has guided the Crimson Tide to six National Championships and helped players develop into NFL pros. In fact, more players in the NFL hail from Alabama than any other college.

A whopping 58 players will be on a Week 1 NFL roster that once suited up for the Crimson Tide. That outranks fellow SEC competitor LSU by five and outranks Big Ten powerhouse Ohio State by seven. Keep in mind 28 of 32 NFL squads roster at least one former Alabama standout heading into the fall.

The dominance doesn't stop there, either. 13 additional Alabama players find themselves on a practice squad or the injured reserve right now. Offensive playmakers like wide receiver Jameson Williams and running back Brian Robinson Jr. should be back on the field within the next few months.

This is the sixth year in a row that the Crimson Tide will have the most players in the NFL on opening weekend. At this point, Alabama could almost put together an entire roster. Nine different positions are represented among the 58 players, including 13 defensive backs and 11 defensive linemen.

It's worth noting that when Saban took over as head coach in 2007, Alabama ranked outside the top 25 teams in terms of most players in the NFL. The work he has done to elevate college talent cannot be overstated. There's a reason Saban owns a ridiculous 179-25 record with the Crimson Tide.

Saban is always going to keep an eye on his former players, but he has a season to focus on. Alabama has odds set at +180 to win another National Championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
