Akron at Liberty – 9/24/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Akron Zips and Liberty Flames face off on Saturday in a Week 4 college football showdown at Williams Stadium. This is the first meeting between the two teams in recent history.

Akron comes into this game with a 1-2 record overall and it looks like it’s going to be another terrible season. In the first game of the season against St. Francis, it was Akron that secured the 30-23 victory. Two games ago against Michigan State they lost 52-0, and in the last game against Tennessee, they lost 63-6. Under center for Akron is DJ Irons and against Tennessee, he completed 32 of his 44 passes for 241 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. One issue was Akron couldn’t get anything going on the ground, and that is going to need to be improved upon here.

On the other side of this matchup is the Liberty Flames who sit with a 2-1 record and the only loss was by a point against Wake Forest. Liberty in the first game of the season Southern Miss 29-27, and in the last game against UAB they won 21-14. Under center for Liberty is Kaidon Salter and against Wake Forest, he completed 19 of his 34 passes for 256 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Dae Dae Hunter finished with 18 rushes for 93 yards and a touchdown. The Liberty are averaging 26.7 points while their defense is giving up 26 points per game.
