Air Force has passed over its competition with relative ease, winning its first three games by an average of 21 points. That said, Friday's game will be its first on the road and its stiffest challenge to date.

The Falcons' ground attack is the focus of their offense. Despite losing star fullback Brad Roberts (1,728 rushing yards and 17 total TDs), the run game has been moving the football with ease in 2023. Three Falcons have toted the rock roughly 40 times, with RB Owen Burk leading the pace (39 carries for 222 yards). QB Zac Larrier is 6-for-10 passing for 193 yards and a TD, but his main priority is the ground game (43 carries for 220 yards). Emmanuel Michel (40 carries for 174 yards) and John Lee Eldridge III (17 carries for 152 yards) are two other reasons why Air Force is first nationally in rushing (320.7 yards per game), just as it was last season.

The Falcons average 31.3 points (60th) and 385.0 total yards (73rd) per game, including 64.3 yards through the air (133rd). The defense surrenders just 10.3 points per game (9th) and 179.3 total yards (1st) per game, including 135.0 passing yards (6th) and 44.3 rushing yards (2nd).

Air Force took care of its business against Utah State in its MWC season opener, scoring 22 first-quarter points. It led 32-7 at halftime and never looked back, as Michel rushed for three touchdowns. The Aggies were held to 54 rushing yards on 26 attempts (2.1 YPC). The Falcons won the time of possession 38:40 to 21:20.

Air Force's defense benefits greatly from the offense's ability to bleed the game clock, as it led the nation in total defense last season. With eight starters back, it should come as no surprise that it's the leader in that category again. There is n't a lot of size on the Falcons' defensive line, but the linebackers can plug gaps. The secondary is loaded, especially at safety, with Camby Goff (42 tackles and three INTs), Jayden Goodwin (58 tackles and two INTs), and Trey Taylor (69 tackles and two INTs in 2022).
