Aidan O'Connell NFL Player Props, Odds Week 15: Predictions for Chargers vs. Raidersiv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

It was a rough outing for the Raiders' quarterback in Week 14, and now our Aidan O'Connell NFL player prop predictions based on the best NFL odds from the best sports betting apps examine his matchup on Thursday Night Football to see if he can rebound.

The only possible direction anyone can go after the Las Vegas Raiders endured a 3-0 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14 is up. And by anyone I mean the team, it's quarterback Aidan O'Connell, and us, the football-watching public who were subjected to that crime against the sport.

O'Connell was certainly a problem in that game while averaging just 5.3 passing yards per attempt. Whether he was The Problem is debatable only because it was such a team-wide collapse. But it could very well become a one-week blip for the signal-caller, and the rookie is only a week removed from a much more encouraging outing against the Kansas City Chiefs. Better yet, the Los Angeles Chargers' defense now provides a cushy get-right spot.

To accompany our Chargers-Raiders prediction and all of our NFL Week 15 predictions, here are our best Aidan O'Connell NFL player prop predictions for the Chargers vs. Raiders Week 15 matchup (odds via our best NFL betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Aidan O'Connell player props

The Chargers boast an imposing pass rush that took O'Connell down seven times during Week 4. However, O'Connell was even more inexperienced then while making his first career start, and yet he still sailed past this low yardage total while finishing with 238 passing yards.

The Los Angeles secondary is so putrid there's only so much the defensive front can do typically. That's led to the team ranking 29th while allowing 261.9 passing yards per game. An imposing pass rush hasn't been nearly enough to stop quarterbacks of varying skill levels from often soaring over this mark against the Chargers, including Russell Wilson (224 yards), Jordan Love (322), Jared Goff (333), and even Zach Wilson (263) and Tyson Bagent (232).

O'Connell has risen above the average offensive line in front of him recently and posted 248 and 271 yards ag ainst the Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, respectively, and each team boasts a much better pass defense (ranked sixth and 12th).

The Chargers have given up the fourth-most yards to wide receivers, which opens the door for field stretching and/or chances to accumulate yards after the catch.

That's the first encouraging factor here. Another is the Raiders' likely reliance on their passing game with Josh Jacobs potentially out, combined with a steadily improving deep-ball connection between O'Connell and three-time All-Pro Davante Adams.

The overall production from Adams may be middling in 2023, as he hasn't eclipsed 100 receiving yards since Week 3 while scoring just one touchdown over the same stretch. But Adams and O'Connell have been showing an ability to connect. They&#39 ;ve hooked up for three 30-plus yard gains over O'Connell's previous five starts, two of which were bombs that went for 46 and 42 yards.

Some projections are showing that O'Connell will finish with over 220 passing yards on Thursday. That leaves room for a chunk play or two, especially given the likely passing volume with a depleted backfield.

This prop isn't widely available among our best sportsbooks, and for good reason. It's absurd, though the line given here is a source of comedy through FanDuel that we've dabbled in before with success.

Even the best version of O'Connell will never be mistaken for a scrambling jitterbug. He's produced all of 11 rushing yards in 2023, and did little in that regard throughout his collegiate career at Purdue.

But that doesn't matter with a line this low. A successful quarterback sneak could clear the mark, and it's a basement-level bar that O'Connell has gone over in four of his six starts during 2023.

The only redeeming quality of the Chargers' overall weak defense is its pass rush, which sits second after registering 43 sacks in 2023. So O'Connell will surely be moving around often, leading to more opportunities to stumble forward for a few yards.
