We've reach the halfway point of the 2023 Open Championship, and a major surprise sits on top of the leaderboard by 4-shots. American Brian Harman (-10) leads the British Open following an eagle-3 on the 18th hole Friday to shoot 65.
Harman will play in the final pairing Saturday with dark horse popular Englishman Tommy Fleetwood (-6), who will have the entire country on his side this weekend.
Rory McIlroy (-1) is tied for 10th, while Jason Day (-3) and Jordan Spieth (-2) are still in site. There are 15 players tied for 10th, and a majority of those other players were big longshots ahead of the final major of the year. So was the 36-year-old lefty Harman, whose odds were floating near 120/1 before the tournament. He holds the solo 36-hole lead in a major for the first time in his career, and both Harman and Fleetwood are shooting for their first major championship win.
