Kansas vs. Texas Tech Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-12-2022

The Kansas Jayhawks (6-3, 7-1-1 ATS, 5-4 O/U) clash with the Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-5, 4-5 ATS, 6-3 O/U) in a conference battle on Saturday afternoon. The Jayhawks posted a convincing home win against Oklahoma State in their previous action. The Red Raiders were hit with a road loss against TCU last week. Texas Tech logged a 41-14 road win against Kansas last season.

The Kansas Jayhawks were 5-0 to begin the season and then followed with three consecutive defeats due to poor defense. Kansas is now bowl-eligible after snapping the losing streak in a dominating 37-16 home win against Oklahoma State last week in a clash that had Kansas favored by three points. Their three defeats this season occurred against strong foes against Iowa State, TCU, and Oklahoma. The Jayhawks have covered the spread in all but two games this season.

Jalon Daniels has not played since October 8th due to a shoulder injury and is questionable. The junior QB has 1073 passing yards and a stellar 11:1 TD to INT ratio. Jason Bean has done a fantastic job since Daniels’ injury. The senior QB has collected 986 passing yards and an 11:3 TD to INT ratio.

The offense prefers to run and for good reason. Devin Neal had a stunning 224 rushing yards last week and the sophomore RB has accumulated 761 rushing yards on over six yards per rush. Lawrence Arnold has made 10 receptions in his last three games. The sophomore WR now has 419 receiving yards. The Kansas offense is clicking, scoring at least 30 points in three out of their last four games.

The Jayhawks' defense had one of their best performances of the season last week, limiting the Oklahoma State offense to only 16 points but squandered 415 yards. The unit has struggled in most of conference play, making the effort last week a surprise. The pass defense is pegged at 119th while the rush defense is 80th. Kansas is scoring an average of 37.9 points, good for 15th. They are allowing an average of 29 points, pegging them 88th in the FBS.
