The Vanderbilt Commodores will try to snap their 26-game SEC losing streak when they face the No. 24 Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday afternoon. Vanderbilt was unable to overcome four turnovers in its 38-27 loss to South Carolina last week, so it has still not won a conference game since 2019. Kentucky bounced back from a blowout loss to Tennessee with a 21-17 win over Missouri.

Vanderbilt is heading for another season without a bowl appearance, as it has been unable to build on its 3-1 start to the year. The Commodores have lost five straight games, all in SEC play, including a 38-27 setback against South Carolina last week. They were tasked with facing a trio of top-10 teams to open their conference slate before losing to Missouri by a field goal. Vanderbilt had its chances against South Carolina last week, but it was ultimately unable to overcome four turnovers. The Commodores racked up 226 rushing yards in the loss, which marked their 26th consecutive setback in conference play. They have not won an SEC game since beating Missouri on Oct. 19, 2019.

Vanderbilt is going to be without starting quarterback AJ Swann on Saturday after he suffered an undisclosed injury against South Carolina. Head coach Clark Lea said Swann is going to be “OK” long-term, but he is not going to be available on Saturday. Mike Wright, who started the first three games of the season, is going to take back over as the starter for this game. Wright has completed 58.3% of his passes for 654 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for 328 yards, averaging 7.5 yards per carry. Senior running back Ray Davis leads the rushing attack with 155 carries for 731 yards and four touchdowns.
