Texas vs. Kansas State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-5-2022

The Texas Longhorns (5-3, 5-3 ATS, 3-5 O/U) battle the Kansas State Wildcats (6-2, 5-2-1 ATS, 3-5 O/U) in a Big 12 clash on Saturday evening. The Longhorns were pelted with a road defeat against Oklahoma State in their previous action prior to their bye. The Wildcats pummelled Oklahoma State last week. Texas logged a 22-17 home win against Kansas State last year.

The Texas Longhorns are looking to achieve bowl eligibility with their sixth win in this one. Texas has won three out of their last four games. They had a three-game winning streak end in a 41-34 road loss to #11 Oklahoma State two weeks ago in a bout that had the Longhorns favored by 6.5 points. They had plenty of time to regroup after last week's bye. Two of their three defeats occurred by three or fewer points including an overtime loss to Texas Tech. The Longhorns are 3-2 in conference play and have covered the spread in two of their five conference games.

Quinn Ewers is looking to rebound from a poor outing. The talented freshman QB only completed 19 of 49 passes in the defeat to OK State. Ewers missed three games due to an injury in September and has 1139 passing yards and an 11:5 TD to INT ratio on the season.

Bijan Robinson continues to dominate. The junior RB has rushed for at least 130 yards in three consecutive performances and has collected 920 rushing yards on 5.7 yards per rush. Xavier Worthy is one of three Longhorns receivers with at least 300 yards. The sophomore WR brought in 78 receiving yards last week and has 510 on the year. The Texas offense is stellar. They have scored at least 34 points in four of their five BIG 12 games.

The Longhorns' defense struggled last week but has been effective in most of conference play. The unit had trouble last week, surrendering 534 total yards. One area they can be solved is in the air. They gave up 391 passing yards last week and rank 93rd against the pass and 34th against the run. Texas is averaging 36.4 points on the season, landing them 22nd. They are conceding an average of 21.1 points, positioning them 27th in the FBS.
