The Boston Bruins have now sandwiched a three-game winning streak and a five-game winning streak around their lone loss, at Ottawa. Still without their #1 defenseman, Charlie MacAvoy, Boston keeps on winning under new coach Jim Montgomery. The Bruins have been off since Friday night after blanking the Blue Jackets 4-0 in Columbus. Boston picked up with the win without last season's leading scorer, Brad Marchand, who returned recently after offseason double-hip surgery. Marchand scored a goal and added two assists in his return to the lineup. On Friday night, goalie Linus Ullmark earned his fifth-career shutout while making 30 saves. Charlie Coyle, Matt Grzelcyk, Jake DeBrusk and David Pastrnak all scored in the team's fifth-straight win.

“There are a lot of guys wearing ice bags right now, and that shows you their commitment early on in the year,” Montgomery said. “They are playing hard fo r each other and we’re getting good results.”

The Bruins continue to win and David Pastrnak continues to produce through the team's first nine games. Pastrnak has picked up the void left by Marchand and has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. The next closest Bruins scorer is captain Patrice Bergeron, who has four goals and five assists for nine points. Boston will continue to sit Marchand for maintenance purposes as he recovers from surgery. He should be good to go on Tuesday after a long layoff. Goalie Linus Ullmark has seemingly grabbed hold of the #1 goaltenders spot at this point. He is 6-0 with a 1.70 GAA and a save percentage of .945. He will likely get the call on Tuesday night.
