The New Orleans Pelicans pay a visit to the Los Angeles Clippers at the crypto.com Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The New Orleans Pelicans have begun the season in decent form as they’ve won three of their first five games, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after getting routed by the Suns in a 124-111 road loss on Friday. Jonas Valanciunas led the team in scoring with 25 points and 10 rebounds on 11 of 16 shooting, Naji Marshall added 21 points with six rebounds and five assists while CJ McCollum tallied 17 points with nine assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 44 percent from the field and 15 of 37 from the 3-point line, but with two of their stars missing from the lineup, they just had no chance of keeping pace with the Suns after they poured in 36 points in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers kicked off their season with a couple of wins, but they are now looking to avoid a fourth straight defeat after getting stopped in their tracks by the Thunder in a 118-110 road loss on Thursday. Norman Powell led the way with 21 points on nine of 15 shooting, Reggie Jackson added 18 points on eight of 13 shooting, John Wall tallied 17 points with six assists off the bench while Ivica Zubac scored 12 points with 18 rebounds. As a team, the Clippers shot a healthy 53 percent from the field and nine of 28 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in full control after exploding for 36 points in the second quarter to overcome an early 18-point deficit, but they kept shooting themselves in the foot with 19 turnovers which fuelled the Thunder down the stretch.
