The Minnesota Timberwolves (3-2) will host the Los Angeles (0-4) in a Western Conference matchup. Los Angeles is off to a terrible start, still seeking a win. The Timberwolves have not yet won or lost two games in a row this season, and are coming off a 134-22 win over the Spurs from Wednesday night.
After finishing 33-49 last season, Frank Vogel was fired as the head coach of the Lakers and replaced with Darvin Ham. According to BetMGM, the Lakers' over/under season win total was set at 45.5, which is the eighth highest amongst Western Conference teams.
The roster has seen quite a bit of turnover from last season regarding its role players, but amongst the moves, Los Angeles could have done a better job of finding shooters to put around Lebron James and Anthony Davis.
The Lakers are off to the worst three-point shooting start in NBA history, ranking last making only 22.3% of their attempts.
Los Angeles is fourth in NBA in defensive efficiency but dead last on offense. At 37 years old Lebron James leads the team with 25.2 ppg, 10 rebounds, and 7.8 assists a game. Anthony Davis leads the team with 2.8 steals, 2.2 blocks and is second with 24 ppg and 9.5 rebounds. Russell Westbrook's role is anothe r hot topic. Westbrook is averaging 10.3 ppg, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists but shooting just 28.9% from the field. Westbrook also sat out due to injury on Wednesday in a Lakers 110-99 loss to Denver.
The Lakers are shooting 33-for-148 on 3s this season. That 22.3% 3-pt FG pct is the worst over any 4-game span by any team within a season in NBA history (min. 125 3-pt FGA). https://t.co/w3DKI9vwSj
