San Francisco will try to complete a season sweep over NFC West rival Los Angeles when the teams meet on Sunday afternoon. The 49ers held serve at home earlier this month, picking up a 24-9 win in that Monday night affair. They are on a two-game losing skid coming into this contest though, while the Rams are coming off their bye week.
San Francisco is in desperate need of a win on Sunday afternoon following consecutive blowout losses to Atlanta and Kansas City. The 49ers will be confident in their ability to win this matchup though, and not only due to their win over the Rams earlier this month. They have won seven consecutive regular season meetings between these teams, with Los Angeles’ lone win in the series since 2018 coming in last year’s playoffs. San Francisco will have running back Christian McCaffrey on the field for the second time after the 49ers outbid the Rams for the former Carolina star several weeks ago.

McCaffrey was used moderately in last week’s loss to Kansas City, rushing eight times for 38 yards while catching two passes for 24 yards. Running back Jeff Wilson has been the workhorse back this season, although he only had seven carries for 54 yards against the Chiefs. Wilson is averaging 5.2 yards per carry this season and has scored a pair of touchdowns. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo completed 25 of 37 passes for 303 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the loss to the Chiefs. He has completed 64.3% of his passes for 1,456 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions since taking over for the injured Trey Lance. He could be without star wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring), as he is questionable for this game. San Francisco’s defense still ranks third in the NFL, but it allowed 9.1 yards per play against Kansas City, which was its worst mark in a game since 1965.
