A pair of former Big East opponents take the field in the Nutmeg State as a program from the ACC battles one of the lone remaining independents at the FBS level. The Boston College Eagles are on the road as they make the trip to face the UConn Huskies Saturday afternoon. Boston College was drubbed 43-15 on the road by #13 Wake Forest in their previous contest last Saturday, failing to cover as a 20-point underdog. UConn is coming off a bye last week: they fell 25-21 at Ball State back on October 15 in their previous game though they did cover as a 9.5-point underdog. In the all-time series between the programs, Boston College has won all six meetings, including a 39-16 victory at Fenway Park in the most recent matchup on November 18, 2017.

Boston College dropped their second straight in blowout fashion as they were drubbed by #13 Wake Forest last week. The Eagles dropped to 2-5 and sit in the basement of the Atlantic Division of the ACC with a 1-4 conference mark. Against Wake Forest, Boston College took a 3-0 lead but gave up the next 14 points to trail by 11. The Eagles couldn’t get closer than five with just under six minutes to play in the first half. Boston College trailed 21-9 at halftime and proceeded to get outscored 22-6 in the second half to lose in a rout. The Eagles were beaten 428-315 in total offense, lost the first down battle 29-15 and dropped the time of possession by a 30:18 to 29:42 margin. Boston College did force two turnovers while committing only one but that didn’t spark them to victory.

The Eagles enter this contest 68th in the FBS in passing offense as they average 239.6 yards per gam e through the air. Boston College has been brutal in the run game, ranking 131st among the 131 FBS teams to take the field as they average a lousy 66.3 yards per contest. The Eagles are just 114th in scoring offense with 19.3 points per game. Boston College is a dismal 102nd in scoring defense as they allow 31 points per contest. Phil Jurkovec has completed 135 of 228 passes for 1,556 yards with 11 touchdowns and six picks. Emmett Morehead is 12 of 21 for 121 yards plus a score. Pat Garwo III leads the team on the ground with 80 carries for 257 yards and two scores. Alex Broome (22 carries, 116 yards, TD) and Xavier Coleman (20 carries, 87 yards) are next in line. In the passing game, watch out for Zay Flowers (team-high 52 catches, 691 yards, six TD) to do damage. George Takacs (17 grabs, 176 yards, TD), Jaden Williams (11 catches, 170 yards, two TD) and Jaelen Gill (16 receptions, 267 yards) have all reached the 150-yard receiving mark on the year. Connor Lyfton has hit all 15 extra points but only six of 11 field goal attempts with a long of 46 this season.
