A pair of teams that are expected to be contenders for the Eastern Conference’s spot in the NBA Finals take the floor in search of an early season statement win in Cream City. The Brooklyn Nets are on the road as they make the trip to face the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night. Brooklyn was outgunned 134-124 on the road by Memphis in their previous contest Monday night. Milwaukee rolled to a 125-105 home victory over Houston in their previous contest back on Saturday night. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Bucks own a 106-77 advantage and took three of the four meetings last season. That includes a 120-119 overtime win on the road in the most recent matchup on March 31, 2022.

Brooklyn battled but couldn’t slow down the attack of the Grizzlies as they were outgunned on the road Monday night. The Nets dropped to 1-2 on the season and entered Tuesday fourth in the Atlantic Division, 1.5 games behind the Celtics for the top spot. Against Memphis, Brooklyn trailed by five after the opening quarter, led by five at the half and was still up two early in the second half before giving up a 17-2 run that left them down 87-74 with 6:24 to play in the third quarter. The Nets were unable to draw closer than six the rest of the way as the Grizzlies had an answer each time Brooklyn attempted to make a run. Brooklyn shot 54% from the field, including nine of 29 from three-point range, but allowed the Grizzlies to shoot 50% in the game. Kyrie Irving (eight rebounds) and Kevin Durant each had 37 points to lead the Nets in the loss.

The Nets enter this game 16th in the le ague in scoring offense as they average 113.7 points per game on the year. Brooklyn is 29th in the league in rebounding with 39.3 boards per contest and 15th in assists by dishing out 25 dimes a night. The Nets are 28th in the league in scoring defense by allowing 123 points per contest. Kevin Durant leads the team with 32 points plus 4.3 rebounds and four assists per game. Kyrie Irving (27.3 points, 5.7 assists), Nic Claxton (16 points, 9.3 rebounds) and Patty Mills (10.7 points) each are solid scoring options as well. The Nets look to get production from Royce O’Neale, Ben Simmons, Joe Harris, Day’Ron Sharpe, Markieff Morris, Edmond Sumner, Cam Thomas, Kessler Edwards and Yuta Watanabe. Brooklyn is 4th in the league in field goal percentage as they shoot 48.8% from the field as a team on the year. The Nets are 22nd in the league in three-point field goals per game as they drain 10.7 triples per game while they st and 22nd in three-point field goal percentage by hitting 33% from beyond the arc.

T.J. Warren is still recovering from a pair of surgeries on his foot. The team is expected to re-evaluate his status sometime in November. Seth Curry (ankle) and Markieff Morris (personal) are both out for this game after missing Monday’s contest. There is no update at this time about their return dates.
