The Detroit Pistons are 1-1 thus far in the season and look like a team that has an improved future. In the opener, Detroit utilized the skill set of a veteran player to compliment their youth to pick up a 113-109 victory over the Magic. Bojan Bogdanovic, picked up from the Jazz in the offseason, scored 24 points in his Pistons debut while youngsters Jaden Ivey and Cade Cunningham combined for 37 points. On Friday night, against the Knicks in New York, the road proved to be much less welcoming for the young team. The Pistons shot just 43% from the field overall, 25% from three point range and hit just over 60% of their free throws. Second-year forward Saddiq Bey led the way with 26 points and seven rebounds in a 130-107 loss.

There will be plenty of ups and downs from this Pistons team this year as one of the youngest teams in the NBA. 33-year old Bogdanovic is the oldest starter by far as the other four starters are 23, 21, 21 and 20. Despite their youth, the Pistons have been efficient with the basketball thus far with only 27 turnovers combined in the two games. They will have issues from the perimeter as Bogdanovic is their one true 3pt threat in their regular rotation while Ivey and Cunningham can be more erratic from beyond the arc. After combining for six three point field goals in the opener, Ivey and Cunningham went a combined 2-of-10 in the game at New York.
