Best NBA player prop bets for Friday, 10/21: Tyrese Haliburton takes over

There are 11 games in the NBA on Friday night and a lot of player props to choose from. Six games have at least a total of 225 points and 6 games have a line of at least 5 points or fewer. Bets may be added throughout the day if there are additional spots that arise, so be sure to check back later in the day. Last season’s picks here went 110-87-1. Here are my picks for tonight.

Tyrese Haliburton over 27.5 points+assists (-110 on BetMGM)

Haliburton was profitable for us often last season and it will continue to start the season with these totals. The Pacers guard will see a lot of usage on a tanking team. After Haliburton was traded from Sacramento to Indiana last season, he averaged 17.5 points, 9.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds. He did that with Malcolm Brogdon often playing and he was traded to Boston. In the first game of the season on Wednesday, Haliburton had 26 points and 7 assists in 36 minutes, while shooting 10-for-18 from the field and had 21 potential assists. The Pacers get a good matchup at home against the Spurs with a game total of 231 points. The Spurs allowed 129 points and 26 assists at home to a Hornets team without LaMelo Ball in the opener.

Jalen Brunson over 5.5 assists (-110 on BetMGM)

I played the over on Brunson’s 22.5 points+assists in the first game against Memphis and it cashed with 15 points and 9 assists. Brunson picked up 2 fouls in the first 5 minutes and bounced back. Brunson’s assists total is low considering his role on a new team. The Knicks desperately needed a point guard to run the offense and Brunson made a big difference in his first game. While he had 9 assists, he had 17 potential assists. It didn’t help that the Knicks shot 40.6 % from the field, especially a bad game from RJ Barrett, who shot 3-for-18 from the field. Look for Brunson to get it done in his first home game at Madison Square Garden.

DeMar DeRozan over 37.5 points+rebounds+assists (-120 on DraftKings)

DeRozan sees a big increase in usage without Zach LaVine, who is out tonight. DeRozan saw his usage rate increase from 30.9 percent to 36.5 percent when LaVine sat last season. In the first game of the season on Wednesday, DeRozan had 37 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds against a Miami defense that was one of the best last season. He shot 11-for-22 from the field and 7-for-11 from the free throw line. He faced Washington 3 times last season and went over twice with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and LaVine played and scored 35 points and he had 32 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in another game and LaVine played, too.
