New York Giants vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-23-2022

The New York Giants (5-1, 5-1 ATS, 1-4 O/U) take on the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-4, 2-4 ATS, 4-2 O/U) in an inter-conference battle on Sunday afternoon. The Giants recorded a big home win against the Ravens last week. The Jaguars were dealt a narrow road loss by the Colts. These foes last met in 2018 in a game the Jags won by a 20-15 score.

The New York Giants are one of the hottest teams in the entire NFL. Their only defeat of the season was a 23-16 decision to the Cowboys and have rebounded from that bout by registering three consecutive victories. They beat Green Bay in week five and were 5.5-point dogs in a 24-20 home win against the Ravens last week. NY has been the dog in four of their five wins on the season. They have covered the points in three consecutive games.

Daniel Jones isn’t lighting up the scoreboard but has connected on 67% of his pass attempts this season. The 25-year-old QB hasn’t tossed an interception in three straight games and has accrued 1021 passing yards along with a 5:2 TD to INT ratio. Saquan Barkley has been the Giants' biggest weapon on offense. The 25-year-old RB logged 83 rushing yards last week and now has 616 rushing yards on an average of 5.2 yards per carry. He has a big challenge against a stellar Jags rush defense.

The Giants have been without Kenny Golladay in two straight games. The star WR is considered questionable with a knee injury. Sterling Shepard is on the IR and Richie James has been key, leading the squad with 189 receiving yards. The NY offense will continue to run considering the offensive injuries. They are efficient in the red zone, connecting on 60% of their chances.

The Giants' defense continues to excel. They have been up against two strong offensive teams in the last two bouts and held Green Bay to 22 points and the Ravens to 20 despite allowing over 400 total yards. The secondary is stellar, ranking 8th but the rush defense is an issue, marking 28th in the league after allowing 211 yards on the ground last week. NY is posting an average of 21.2 points, landing them 19th. The defense is limiting opponents to 18.8 points, good for seventh in the NFL.
