Philadelphia Flyers vs. Florida Panthers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-19-2022

The Philadelphia Flyers face the Florida Panthers with both teams looking to build off strong starts to the season. The Flyers are 3-0 and one of the biggest surprises in the NHL while the Panthers are 2-1 and hoping to bounce back from a tough loss. Both teams are looking to build off their strong starts and more importantly build up a strong record in the Eastern Conference.

The Flyers are one of the biggest surprises in the NHL to start the season with a 3-0 start and an offense that has scored 11 goals in the first three games. Travis Konecny, Kevin Hayes, and Joel Farabee have scored three goals and five assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has also stepped up to start the season. James van Riemsdyk, Morgan Frost, and Tanner Laczynski have scored three goals and five assists to add depth to the forward unit while defensemen Ivan Provorov and Anthony DeAngelo have added a goal and six assists from the blue line to help open up the offense.

The offense has stepped up but the defense has carried the Flyers to start the season, allowing only two goals in each of their first three games. Anthony DeAngelo and Ivan Provorov have led the top pairing but the rest of the defense has been great as well with Justin Braun, Travis Sanheim, and the rest of the u nit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and cutting off angles to the net on the rush. The hope is that with the Flyers playing on a back-to-back that backup goaltender Felix Sandstrom can step up in the net after having a .910 save percentage and a 3.23 goals-against average on only 177 shots last season.
