Gainbridge Fieldhouse will play host to a Wednesday night NBA battle between the Washington Wizards and the Indiana Pacers. The Wizards (35-47) lost three of four in the preseason and have been unable to build a successful team around All-Star G Bradley Beal. On Friday, Washington was dominated on the glass (66-40) during a 105-89 road loss against New York.
F Rui Hachimura tallied a team-high 20 points and eight rebounds in 30 minutes off the Washington bench. Bradley Beal added 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the Wizards.
The Indiana Pacers split their four preseason games and must fix a defense that ranked third worst in efficiency a season ago. Last time out, Indiana was torched for 81 points during the first half of a 122-114 home loss versus Houston. The Pacers (25-57) were outrebounded by a 52-38 margin and missed 29 of their 41 three-point attempts.
Indiana G Buddy Hield knocked down 4-for-6 from long distance and finished with a team-high 19 points. Rookie G Bennedict Mathurin added 18 points and five rebounds off the bench for the Pacers.
