It’s a battle of teams from the Eastern Conference on the ice down in the Sunshine State. The Philadelphia Flyers are on the road as they make the trip down the east coast to face the Tampa Bay Lightning Tuesday night. Philadelphia earned a 3-2 home victory over Vancouver in their previous contest Saturday afternoon. Tampa Bay was drubbed 6-2 on the road by Pittsburgh in their previous contest Saturday night. The Lightning have won three straight and nine of the last 10 meetings between the teams, including a 7-1 romp in the most recent matchup, which came on the road back on December 5, 2021.

Philadelphia spotted Vancouver an early advantage but rallied to come up with the victory at home Saturday. The Flyers entered Monday tied for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division with the Penguins, Hurricanes and Rangers as each team has four points. Philadelphia comes into this game tied for 7th in the league in scoring offense as they put up four goals per game. The Flyers are tied for 6th in the league in goals against as they give up two goals per contest. Philadelphia is tied for 14th in power play success as they successfully convert on 25% of their opportunities with the man advantage. The Flyers are 10th in penalty killing as they have managed to navigate through 87.5% of their shorthanded situations on the year.

Against the Canucks, the Flyers dug an early hole but managed to climb back and earn the victory at home to remain unbeaten. The Fl yers held a commanding 14-4 advantage in shots on goal in the opening period but trailed 2-0 at the first intermission. In the second period, Philadelphia was outshot by a 13-9 margin but outscored Vancouver 2-0 to tie the game at two after 40 minutes of action. Tony DeAngelo got the Flyers on the board with his first of the season, on the power play, at 10:32 off assists from James van Riemsdyk and Kevin Hayes. Scott Laughton knotted the game with a shorthanded tally, his first of the season, at 17:49 off an assist from Travis Konecny. In the third period, the Flyers were outshot 13-8 but scored the lone goal of the stanza to earn the victory. Konecny tallied the game winner with his third goal of the season at 13:53 with the assist going to Ivan Provorov. Carter Hart made 28 saves for the Flyers, who held a 31-30 advantage in shots on goal, in the victory. He is expected to get the call between the pipes again in this contest.
